Training Director at Gentog | Dementia Care Educator | Caregiver Advocate

Alex Jones brings more than 15 years of experience in training, development, and caregiving to every workshop he leads. As the Vice President of Gentog Community Services and the Director of Learning and Development at Gentog Adult Day Center in Tigard, Oregon, Alex has helped transform how care partners support individuals living with dementia and other cognitive challenges.

He is a certified trainer in both Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care® (PAC) and Dementia Live® by AGE-u-cate, and serves as a facilitator for Oregon Care Partners. A former corporate trainer in the banking sector, Alex’s transition to elder care was inspired by firsthand caregiving experiences and a passion for building inclusive, joyful communities for people of all ages.

Known for his warm facilitation style, sense of humor, and deep understanding of care dynamics, Alex specializes in empowering both professional and family caregivers with the tools, insights, and encouragement they need to thrive.

When he's not leading trainings, Alex is helping coordinate intergenerational programs, building caregiver support systems, and spending time with his own family, including his young son enrolled in Gentog's preschool.

Music Director at Gentog | Music Educator | Singer & Songwriter | Dementia Advocate

Music has the power to heal, connect, and transform—and Joseph (Joe) Konty brings that power to life every day at Gentog. As our Director of Music Care, Joe leads a wide range of music-centered programs designed to uplift the spirit and stimulate the brain, especially for those living with dementia.

A lifelong professional musician, educator, and songwriter, Joe combines his creative talents with a deep passion for people. He oversees our music care trainings, coordinates internship opportunities, and facilitates our dementia-friendly Spiritual Gatherings—providing meaningful connection through faith, music, and shared experience.

His concerts and interactive sessions bring joy not only to our senior community but also to the children in our preschool program, bridging generations through rhythm, song, and storytelling.

Outside of Gentog, Joe continues to write, record, and teach, always finding ways to use music as a tool for communication, healing, and celebration. Whether he's leading a singalong with seniors, mentoring young interns, or simply strumming his guitar in the hallway, Joe brings energy, empathy, and creativity to every note.
